Disposable cups versus reusable cups

Reusable cups, unlike disposable cups, require much more energy to produce and keep clean. A research from 1994 by chemistry professor Martin B. Hocking specifically shows that in order for a reusable plastic cup to be as efficient as a disposable paper cup, you would need to use it at least 17 times. However, it ultimately comes down to how the cups will be used. If your plan is to attend a big event and hand out reusable cups to everyone, it is very likely that the majority of them will dispose of their cup when they’re done drinking from it.
